Tennis legend Roger Federer provided a promising update on how post-retirement life is treating him so far. In an interview, Federer shared he is enjoying time with family and isn’t missing the grind of the ATP Tour – yet.
“I thought I might have more issues moving on, but so far so good,” Federer remarked. While he plans to still occasionally play exhibitions, Roger emphasized “I don’t feel any void from not competing professionally.”
However, one tennis event Federer remains heavily invested in is the Laver Cup, the international team tournament he helped found. When asked about rumors of the Laver Cup being hosted in Saudi Arabia soon, Federer expressed intrigue.
“We’ve been discussing bringing the Laver Cup to new global destinations. The Middle East has potential,” he commented. Federer added that concrete details are still being worked out, but Saudi Arabia could emerge as a contender to land the coveted event in the future.
As Federer weighs which new business endeavors to embark on post-retirement, the Laver Cup clearly remains dear to his heart. “It’s my baby,” he stated. “I want to continue growing it to promote tennis worldwide.”
While he may be stepping away from ATP tournaments, Roger Federer has no intention of leaving the tennis world completely anytime soon. Between family time and evolving the Laver Cup, Federer’s icon status and passion for the sport still shines bright.
