Patrick Mahomes is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL today, but when asked to name the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time) QB, he gave the nod to someone else.
In a recent interview, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar was asked point-blank who he believes is the best quarterback in NFL history. Mahomes didn’t hesitate in his response:
“Tom Brady,” he stated. “He’s won more Super Bowls than any other player. You have to go with the greatest winner.”
Brady has captured a record 7 Super Bowl championships over his illustrious 23-year career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Mahomes, who has one Super Bowl title to his name so far, expanded on his answer:
“The longevity of Tom’s success is just unmatched. To play at such an elite level for over 20 years is incredibly impressive. As a young player, you dream of having a career like that.”
Brady recently announced his retirement “for good” at age 45 after briefly walking away last year before returning for one final season.
At just 27 years old, Mahomes already has an MVP award, Super Bowl MVP, and two championships under his belt. Many expect him to approach or even eclipse some of Brady’s incredible records by the time his career is over.
But for now, Mahomes is quick to show respect for the all-time greats who came before him – especially when it comes to Brady and his unprecedented 23-year reign.
