It seems whenever Pep Guardiola gets a fully fit squad he is immediately hit with another injury.
Manchester City played out a thrilling Premier League title clash with Liverpool on Sunday and escaped with a good point.
John Stones may have given Pep Guardiola’s side the lead but they have historically struggled at Anfield and remain firmly in the title race, just a point behind leaders Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But it did come at a cost with the loss of Ederson to injury. The goalkeeper has joined Jack Grealish on the sidelines and here is the latest on City’s injured duo.
Ederson
City were hit twice in quick succession at Anfield as Ederson upended Darwin Nunez in the box to give away a penalty, which was converted by Alexis Mac Allister.
To make matters worse, the Brazilian was injured in the challenge and though he attempted to save the spot kick, could not carry on much longer.
It transpires Ederson suffered a thigh injury and is now set for three to four weeks on the sidelines.
That will almost certainly rule him out of the massive top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal at the end of March.
What Guardiola said: “It doesn’t look good.”
Potential return date: April 3
Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish is the only other injury City currently have but it’s a massive one, as City’s lack of control against Liverpool showed.
Grealish first picked up his knock in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against FC Copenhagen but soon recovered to come back into the team against Luton two weeks later.
However, the 28-year-old didn’t see out the first half again as he suffered a relapse of the injury.
Grealish was visibly distraught as he left the field and remains sidelined over a fortnight later.
