Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had one request for the NFL ahead of this year’s scouting combine. Mahomes is a big plug for the league when they advertise their product, as the 2017 first-round pick has won three Super Bowls and two NFL MVPs in his career thus far.
But Mahomes isn’t a fan of all of the publicity the league bestows upon him.
Mahomes posted a message on X to the NFL-owned NFL Network, asking them not to air his 40-yard dash as an overlay for future programming.
There’s a reason many of the top prospects in the draft choose not to participate in the combine. Some of these measurements are silly compared to game tape.
Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion, has more than proved his 40-yard dash to be a farce. Keeping the video of his sprint as an overlay won’t help to convince the Matt LaFleur’s of the world they need to attend the event.
