How Federer Praises Nadal’s ‘Incredible Fight and Spirit’ as a Friend and Rival

Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal have one of the greatest rivalries in sports history. Yet, they have also managed to become good friends off the court.

Federer recently commented on his respect for Nadal’s competitive drive and spirit.

  1. Federer said he admires how Nadal always gives “150%” and fights for every point. He noted Nadal’s intensity never drops during a match.
  2. He praised Nadal’s resilience to battle back from injuries, calling it an “incredible fight”. Nadal has had recurring knee and foot issues.
  3. Federer said Nadal’s passion for the sport and competitiveness pushes him as a rival to be better. Their epic 2008 Wimbledon final is considered one of the greatest matches.
  4. Although they have contrasting playing styles, Federer admires how Nadal has mastered his heavy topspin and gritty court coverage.
  5. He respects Nadal for being humble and not expecting any privileges despite his tennis star status.
  6. Federer said it has meant a lot to him to get to know Nadal and his family off the court as well over the years.

  10. Ultimately Federer believes the friendship they’ve built is bigger than their rivalry’s outcome. He cherishes it.
