Grigor Dimitrov will take on Alexander Zverev for a spot in the 2024 Miami Open final after stunning Carlos Alcaraz.
Dimitrov has been playing really strong tennis for about a year now. The Bulgarian is close to the Top 10, and he will make a return if he beats the German players, and on top of that, he completely outplayed Carlos Alcaraz in two sets.
Beating Zverev will require an equally good showing because the German won’t be easy to beat in these conditions. The serve is a major threat, and Zverev has just been very good himself, particularly regarding this matchup
Head-to-head:
Zverev had very few problems against Dimitrov in the past. They played a handful of times, and the German player was able to win 7 of the 8 matches they played so far. What’s even more impressive is that a couple of those matches were played last year when Dimitrov was already playing pretty well.
In Cincinnati, Zverev won 6-2, 6-2. At the US Open, the German players won in four sets, with the final two sets being 6-1, 6-1. Their meeting in Chengdu ended with a 6-3, 7-6(2) result. What all of these matches have in common is the conditions, which are more on the faster side, just like Miami.
