Taylor Fritz has responded to a hilarious moment from the new season of Netflix’s tennis documentary series Break Point, which saw his girlfriend brand one of his rivals “cute”. During a conversation in their kitchen, Morgan Riddle complimented Jannik Sinner in front of her boyfriend before the pair face off in Indian Wells.

After starring in Break Point for two seasons, Fritz had the opportunity to watch back some of the moments that made it into his episodes in the Drive To Survive-style Netflix show. The world No. 10 was filmed during Indian Wells last year as he tried to defend his maiden Masters 1000 crown – a moment that was shown in the first season.

The 26-year-old faced Sinner in the quarter-final and discussed the match with his partner in a moment caught by Netflix cameras. “How’s Sinner playing right now?” Riddle asked Fritz ahead of their showdown. “I mean, I think he’s been playing good all year,” he replied.

And Riddle appeared to tease her partner as she continued: “He’s like fun to watch. He’s so cute.” Fritz replied “okay” on camera at the time as the pair sat together, with his girlfriend adding: “He is.” And the American has now had an opportunity to clear things up after the funny moment did the rounds on social media.

In a new ATP video, Fritz was asked to react to the conversation and laughed as he admitted he didn’t know what to say with cameras on him at the time. After watching the footage back, he said: “I mean yeah, at the end, ‘he’s cute’.”

Laughing, the world No. 10 explained: “I know the way she means in but there’s cameras on me. I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to answer that. Like, yeah, sure, he’s cute.” Fritz ultimately did go on to lose that quarter-final to Sinner, robbing him of the chance to try and defend his Indian Wells crown.
