17-year-old tennis phenom Alex Eala has taken the sports world by storm, becoming the youngest ever WTA tournament champion in over 15 years. But amidst the demands of her bursting career, Eala remains steadfast about relishing downtime with loved ones between matches.
The Filipino rising star has been documenting quality time with her family this week as she competes at the prestigious Miami Open. Having upset world #15 Ekaterina Alexandrova in round one, beachside bonding with her relatives has been Eala’s perfect pressure release.
“No matter how hectic life gets, always make the effort to spend meaningful time with family,” Eala posted alongside photos of her strolling Miami’s iconic Ocean Drive with her mother, brothers and cousins who traveled from the Philippines to support her.
Additional posts capture everything from living room dance parties to enjoying homecooked meals by her “Tita Dhang” between training under coach Rafa Nadal at his academy.
Eala’s commitment to cherishing family, even as one of tennis’ youngest athletes in the spotlight, has endeared her exponentially to fans worldwide. The humble teenager remains focused though, writing “it’s matches like [Alexandrova] that push me to keep grinding and improving.”
If her stunning upset is any indication of things to come, Alex Eala is certainly hitting her rhythm on and off court at just the right time! We can’t wait to see her flourish through the rest of Miami and the 2024 WTA season with her loving family’s support spurring her on.
