Guardiola Confirms Silva and Grealish Injured Against Copenhagen

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that both Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish picked up injuries during the club’s 0-0 draw against Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Silva was substituted at halftime after taking a heavy challenge early in the first half. Guardiola confirmed the Portuguese midfielder suffered a muscular injury.

“Bernardo had a problem with his muscle, that’s why he was out at half time,” the City boss said. “I don’t know how long he will be out for.”

As for Grealish, he played the full 90 minutes but also appeared to sustain a knock. Guardiola said the English winger has an issue with his foot but remained hopeful it is not too serious.

“Jack has a problem with his foot, something is not right. Hopefully it is nothing too big an issue.”

The injuries compound the selection headaches Guardiola has faced in recent weeks. Star striker Erling Haaland missed the Copenhagen match with a foot problem of his own.

City now face tough Premier League matches against Southampton and Liverpool over the next week. Guardiola will hope to have Silva, Grealish and Haaland back and available as his squad continues to fight on multiple fronts this season.

The draw against Copenhagen ended City’s 100% record in Champions League Group G, but they remain top of the group with 10 points from four matches played.
