It’s been more than 25 years since the Spice Girls released their first album, Spice, in 1996, but the ladies from the popular ’90s group are still close and showing up for each other on the big days in their life. During a recent appearance, Melanie Brown — or, as fans may better know her, Mel B — revealed that Victoria Beckham designed her wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials, and honestly, there’s no one who would have been better for the job. It’s so sweet to see that Scary Spice and Posh Spice are good friends decades later.
Mel is getting ready to walk down the aisle.
Mel B is preparing to marry Rory McPhee after he popped the question in October 2022. At the time, they had been dating for three years and the couple was on a romantic vacation in Berkshire.
Now, wedding planning seems to be moving along quite nicely, and it sounds like she can officially cross one major item off her to-do list.
Her wedding dress designer is also her close friend.
During a recent appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna, Mel shared that she’s planning to wear “at least three” dresses on her big day, including one designed by her BFF, Posh.
“Victoria actually designed my dress and my mom’s dress. It’s such a beautiful honor to get,” she said.
She already has a plan for her wedding dresses.
Three wedding dresses might seem like a lot, but Mel already knows when she’ll change her outfits on the big day — at least, for the most part.
“I’m going to really go for it,” she said. “One to actually get married in, which is the proper ceremony — very proper at this church, St. Paul’s [Cathedral]. And then maybe I want to change out of that and be a bit more less. You know, I actually don’t know!”
She’s getting married somewhere very special.
During the same interview, Mel B shared that she is getting married at St. Paul’s Cathedral, the same place where Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married in 1981. This is thanks to the fact that Mel was designated an MBE, or Member of the Order of the British Empire.
“It was actually Prince William that gave me my little honorary badge. And it’s quite a big deal. I didn’t realize how much of a big deal it was until I started reading about it and then I started getting very nervous,” she said.
